Import Microstation DGN formatted map into a Nautical chart
This page explains how Eye4Software HydroMagic works with MicroStation DGN files in hydrographic surveying and nautical charting applications. MicroStation DGN is a widely used CAD format for engineering, infrastructure, and marine projects, and HydroMagic allows surveyors to import DGN files as background maps for planning, navigation, data collection, and survey analysis. By combining DGN mapping data with real-time positioning and depth measurements, HydroMagic helps professionals create accurate and efficient hydrographic survey projec
With Eye4Software Hydromagic, you can import a Microstation DGN background map into a nautical chart. Amongst the other supported backround map types are: AutoCAD DXF and GeoTIFF.
Microstation DGN
DGN is a file format is a format similar to AutoCAD DXF. It is designed for two-dimensional and three-dimensional CAD (computer-aided design) drafting.
DGN was developed by Bentley Systems' MicroStation and it also supported by Intergraph's Interactive Graphics Design SystemCAD programs.
There are two diffferent formats of GGN:
- ISFF - published in 1980 by Intergraph. It is also known as DGN v7, or Intergraph DGN
- DGN v.8 - superset of the original DGN capabilities, introduced in 2000 by Bentley Systems
