Monitoring MS Index Server

ActiveXperts solution to monitor Microsoft Index Server

Microsoft Indexing Service (formerly called Index server) is a desktop search service included with Windows Operating Systems. It is an OS level service that maintains an index of most of the files on a computer, to improve searching performance on servers and workstations. It updates indexes without user intervention.

An MS Index check requires the following parameters:

  • Processes - A list of Microsoft Indexing Server processes that should be running on the target server;
  • Performance Counters - A list of MS Indexing Server performance counters that should be monitored;
  • WMI Performance Counters - A list of Microsoft Indexing Server WMI counters that should be monitored.
