Windows Resource Kits
Introduction
A Window Resource Kit is a set of software resources and documentation that system administrators and
engineers use to manage or support a Microsoft Windows Server platform, a Microsoft BackOffice Suite or a Microsoft FrontOffice Suite.
Resource kits offer supplementary resources such as technical information, compatibility and troubleshooting information, support, maintenance, management and deployment tools and administrative tools.

The Windows Resource Kit was first introduced with Windows 3.0 and has been released for most Microsoft Operating Systes.
The Windows 95 and Windows 98 resource kit were for free and included on the respective Windows installation CD. Most Resource Kit tools are free of cost and can be downloaded from the Microsoft Download Site. The technical documentation is released as a Microsoft Press book. The CD accompanying the book contains the electronic version of the documentation. It also includes the tools and utilities.
