Q1200010: I'm not able to use SNMP, even when I try to query SNMP on my local machine. Result: Error 22218 or Error 22219.

Network Component requires an SNMP Agent running on your local computer. By default, SNMP is not installed on a Windows platform. This applies to all major Windows platforms, i.e. Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 2003 and Windows 2008.

To install the SNMP agent on a Windows XP/Vista/7/8/2003/2008 platform, please do the following:

  • Open the Control Panel, choose 'Add/Remove Programs' and select the 'Add/Remove Windows Components' icon from the left-pane;
  • Select 'Management and Monitoring Tools' and click on 'Details';
  • Select 'Simple Network Management Protocol' and click 'OK';
  • Click 'Next'; it will now install the SNMP Agent software.

You must configure the SNMP Agent service after installation of the SNMP Agent service.
