Microsoft Windows PowerShell is a command-line shell and scripting tool based on the Microsoft .NET Framework. It is designed for system administrators, engineers and developers to control and automate the administration of Windows and applications.
More than hundred command-line tools (so called "cmdlets") can be used to perform system administration tasks and Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI). These cmdlets are easy to use, with standard naming conventions and common parameters, and standard tools for piping, sorting, filtering, and formatting data and objects.
The Get-Transaction cmdlet gets an object that represents the current transaction in the session. This cmdlet never returns more than one object, because only one transaction is active at a time. If you start one or more independent transactions (by using the Independent parameter of Start-Transaction), the most recently start ed transaction is active, and that is the transaction that Get-Transaction returns. When all active transactions have either been rolled back or committed, Get-Transaction shows the transaction that was most recently active in the session. The Get-Transaction cmdlet is one of a set of cmdlets that support the transactions feature in Windows PowerShell. For more information, see about_Transactions.
