Temperature check

ActiveXperts Network Monitor requires an IT Temperature Monitor device from Sensatronics to monitor temperature. By using their server room temperature monitor in your data center design, you are taking a proactive approach in datacenter management. A managed environment can reduce IT server, storage and network outages by 50% or more.
With Sensatronics the application addresses issues beyond typical server CPU temperature as storage, network or telecom environmental issues are inclusive.

ActiveXperts supports the following Sensatronics devices to monitor temperature:
  • Model E4;
  • Model E8;
  • Model E16;
  • Model CM16;
  • Model EM1 (can also be used with ActiveXperts network Monitor to monitor humidity and wetness)
All devices a capable of monitoring temperature on 4 (or more) locations.

A Temperature check requires the following parameters:
  • Host name or IP address - The host name or IP address of the network interface of the temperature device; use a port prefix to specify another port that the default port (port 80)
  • Monitor Probe - Select a probe;
  • Measurement - Select the preferred unit of measurement : Fahrenheit or Celsius;
  • Minimum Temperature - Minimum allowed temperature, in Fahrenheit or Celsius;
  • Maximum Temperature - Maximum allowed temperature, in Fahrenheit or Celsius;
  • Logging - Enable Logging (y/n); Press on the 'Settings' button to configure logging. By default, ActiveXperts Network Monitor logs to an MS Access database.

ActiveXperts Network Monitor has advanced temperature logging. By default, temperatures are logged to an MS Access database that is shipped with the product. You can easily migrate logging to an MS SQL server (or other OLE/DB compliant database). Read the online Environmental Data Logging Guidelines to migrate to MS SQL.
